Are you a millennial who wants to become his/her own boss before reaching age 30?
I
was a software
engineer back
then. I love my job and I love my pay. I love creating software for
windows drivers and business solution web-based projects. What
made me quit
the corporate ladder and venture into business?
There are a lot of reasons like, I cannot
own the business of the company I
am working for. I don't
have time to pursue my dreams like
traveling the world because even you are in vacation, your mind is
left in your job. I am not
in control of my cash-flow and time.
I saw my
parents still struggle with money even they have good positions in
their job.
Ownership of what I do is a big deal for me.
Even though I quit my job, I didn't forget all the things I learn as a software engineer. I still thank my previous employer with it. My skill is still useful with my current business today. Do you know that I am already automating my financial services business online that is working 24/7? Software development is still my passion but I want to apply it in my business.
How
did I become my own boss before reaching age 30s?
1.) I started building my passive income on the side.
Passive source of income cannot be built overnight. You need to nurture it everyday. A for real passive income won't give instant results, it is like planting a mango tree from a seed. I just planted the seed that IMG gave me years ago and now it is already a tree. Someone is sitting on a shade today because that someone planted a seed years ago.
2.) I attended all the financial classes.
There is a saying that, "The moment you stop learning is the day you start dying". I agree with it because I saw many know-it-all people in my lifetime, most of them are keep talking everyday but shows no results with their words. They sounded like an expert when they talk but there are no results to show. In IMG, what I learn, I apply. We need mentors, mentors that have results in business. We can see them in our meetings and events.
3.) I started investing money when my salary was low.
I see to it that I save first before I spend. I disciplined myself not to get tempted and being peer-pressured to also buy the trends because I know these trends where created by businessmen to let them make chunk of what you earned. Having a low salary at a start trained me how to be frugal. Most excuse is that I cannot save because I got low salary, it is just a mindset problem, you can always adjust your lifestyle on what you have. Little money invested in a mutual fund help me created a big chunk of money that able me to buy my first second hard car and use it in my business after work.
4.) I have a clear intention to become an entrepreneur.
I have no capital when I started my business, I only earn the same income of fresh graduates in the corporate world. But I have the real and clear intention to be independent later. Before I was hired in my first job, I applied many jobs and the HR always ask, “How can you see yourself 3-5 years from now?” I always answered, years from now wanted to to be in business and have control with my future. That is why I wasn't accepted by those companies. But luckily A huge multi-national firm also interviewed me same questions and my answer is still consistent, I want to become my own boss later but I was surprised I was hired that. I thank my first employer for hiring me even that was my answer. Having a job is the stepping stone to have your business later if you don't have capital like me.
5.) I started to build a team.
This is the challenging part, I am not a born leader but I have a burning desire to have my own business later because I saw my parents still struggle with money even they have good positions in their jobs and now they are both retired, their retirement money from their employers were both exhausted. I realize that there is no financial security over the long term if you depend on someone else. The IMG system helped me to develop my leadership capabilities and eventually became an Executive here with the help of God and the team. Team-work creates the dream-work.
6.) Time management.
Time is the only asset that is non refundable. Every after office hours, I work out to build the passive income business with IMG. It is not overnight but the efforts you will put in is really worth it. Most work 8-5 until 65 but I cannot see myself doing that in the long term. I need to have a flexible time. I realize that, to have time freedom later on, you need to manage your time well. I realize it is not only money compounds, time and effort also compounds if you invest your time and effort with IMG.

Prosper Together,
